PM Directs Formation of Chai Yam Dance Troupe to Greet Tourists During Khmer New Year

*Siem Reap, March 16, 2024* - Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia has issued a directive to organize the Chai Yam Orchestra to welcome tourists at airports across Cambodia during the upcoming Khmer New Year celebrations.

The announcement came during the inaugural ceremony of the 8th River Festival in Siem Reap on the evening of March 16, 2024.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized the significance of showcasing Cambodia's rich cultural heritage to visitors from the moment they set foot in the country. By choreographing traditional Chai Yam dances at airports, the government aims to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, enticing tourists to explore the wonders of Cambodia.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Tourism to swiftly coordinate the formation of the Chai Yam Orchestra, ensuring its readiness within three days to a week during the commencement of the Khmer New Year festivities.

The traditional Khmer New Year, celebrated from April 13th to 16th, presents an opportune moment to highlight Cambodia's vibrant culture and hospitality to the world.

This initiative aligns with Cambodia's broader efforts to enhance its tourism sector and promote cultural exchange, fostering positive experiences for visitors while bolstering the country's economy.
